Providing Service to Pinellas County Families Since 2015
Many thanks to Pinellas Community Foundation https://pinellascf.org for their gracious and generous grant to our mission! This grant is a much needed boost to ensure that we are able to continue to house deserving families in Pinellas County. Thank you!!
To help homeless and low-income families achieve
sustainable independence through a community based response.
Collaborating with our community provides the support and resources families in crisis need to put themselves on a path towards long-term housing stability. Our vision is that every family in Pinellas County has safe affordable housing and the resource to achieve self-sufficiency and lasting independence. Currently, 93% of families who have completed the program remain housed!

24 The LORD Bless you and keep you; Not just someone we could always count on to tell a joke and make us feel comfortable, or to offer his Elvis impression to raise money for a charity, Sherwood White was a true crusader for abundant life in Pinellas County. He was an integral part of Family Promise - an organization of congregations that improves the lives of homeless families in St. Petersburg. Very instrumental in the beginnings of our local Family Promise affiliate, Sherwood used his career in financial planning to assist many of our guests. He personally showed them how to budget and had a knack for gaining their trust. He taught them disciplined financial behavior that made a huge difference in their lives. But Sherwood didn’t stop there - he also headed a fund raiser for replacing our van, a fun-filled event that raised a total of $25,000. Sherwood became a member of the Family Promise Board of Directors in 2018 and served until his passing on January 23, 2021. 25 The LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; He worked closely with many, but none so close as his wife of 62 years, Virginia, whom he leaves, along with two grown children, Amye and Joe, and four grandchildren.
26 The LORD turn his face toward you; A fellow Family Promise volunteer, Mike Mills, attests to the fact that Sherwood White raised more money for Family Promise of Pinellas County than any other single individual. The first Executive Director of Family Promise, Debbie Nash, remembers Sherwood fondly, saying, “It is impossible to speak Sherwood White's name without my heart warming and an immediate and long-lasting smile to overcome me. He was a man who believed with all of his heart and showed with all of his actions that we are to love the Lord and to love our neighbor.”
Sherwood was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he established a program for young couples, served as director of adult bible study, sang in the choir, served as Chair of Stewardship and Finance Teams and was a member of the benevolent “Care Team” for over 20 years. He was a forty year active member and past president of The Rotary Club of St Petersburg, one of the original board members of the Free Clinic, and was also a founding board member and past president of the Ronald McDonald House.
Sherwood White was a friend to many, and will be missed by all of those whose lives he touched.
And give you peace.

The Board of Family Promise would like to welcome Kerrie Fine as the new Executive Director of Family Promise. She comes to us from Kimberly Home in Pinellas County. We are excited to have Kerrie on board as we re-launch our "after Covid-19" model, which will lead our affiliate into the future.
Kerrie Fine grew up in the suburbs of Michigan and has always had the heart to help those less fortunate. Her life has been committed to helping individuals and families for more than 15 years through various outreach, recovery, and human trafficking programs. She spent 6 years serving at the Los Angeles Dream Center and was the Curriculum and Education director for their discipleship (life-recovery) program, family, and single mother program. She was a part of the team that started Project Hope: A Human Trafficking recovery program. She met her husband, Steve, while serving in Los Angeles, and they regularly participated in numerous outreaches with the Dream Center. Kerrie is thankful for the time she spent at the Dream Center because it trained her in multiple areas such as; fundraising, volunteer recruitment and non-profit management. After Kerrie and her husband Steve were married in 2013, they were asked to take a two-year assignment in Huntington, Indiana, to help launch a Dream Center.
Once that commitment was ended, they moved in early 2016 to Largo, Florida. Since living in Largo, Kerrie has worked with low-income, homeless mothers and families. Kerrie's passion for helping families stay to together is motivated by the need she sees in the community and her own family's love. Kerrie has participated in civic and community groups and served on advisory boards for two non-profits. Even after all the training she has received, she will graduate in August 2021 with her B.A. in Management and Leadership. She is the mother of 3 beautiful daughters, 7 grandbabies, and 2 fur babies.
We look forward to Kerrie's start on May 3rd 2021. Welcome aboard Kerrie!
We thank you all again for your continued support, and we are excited to begin serving guests once again. As time goes on, we will need to build on our sustained funding. We are currently in good shape largely in part to you our wonderful support team. Of course, as we add staff our expenses will increase and your donations will be greatly appreciated.
